Zakiya Omar | Dentist and Director
Zakiya (BDS) has been at Whangaparaoa Dental since 2014, after starting a partnership with Peter Rowell. She previously owned Wellsford Dental Centre for 5 years and worked in Auckland City for 9 years. Zakiya is pleased to welcome previous patients back after the many changes in dentists at Whangaparaoa Dental. She ensures the best dental care in a relaxed environment, is a friendly lady and fully competent in all aspects of dentistry.
Zakiya is married with two girls, one at Otago University and the other at primary school.
Peter Rowell | Dentist and Director
Peter graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1983 and moved to Warkworth for two years prior to opening Whangaparaoa Dental Centre in 1986. He and his wife have lived on the Peninsula for 33 years raising their two childeren here; they are all very proud Coasters.
Peter is a General Dentist practicing most aspects of Dentistry from his new state of the art rooms ably assisted by his lovely caring staff.
Dentistry is a profession that suites him well, he enjoys people and has the ability to make his patients feel comfortable and relaxed.
Whangaparaoa Dental Centre is situated in the Coast Plaza meaning access is easy with ample parking.
Nash Ibrahim | Dentist
Dr. Nash graduated (with Honours) in 2001 and since then has worked overseas and in New Zealand both at hospital and in private dental clinics.
He sees himself as a progressive learner, he has extended his knowledge and advanced both his clinical and communication skills through extensive post graduate continuing educational courses in multiple fields of dentistry both here in NZ and overseas including:
Orthodontics (Braces and Invisalign)
Facial Aesthetics and Teeth grinding solutions (Muscle relaxants like Dysport and Fillers)
Full mouth rehabilitation and smile makeover solutions (for worn out or broken down teeth, bite problems, missing teeth, discoloured teeth..etc)
Cosmetic dentistry using metal free restorations; Advanced Root canal treatments
Prime Practice patient communication program and many more.
Dr. Nash is a current member of the NZ Dental Association,
Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and
Fellow of the International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE)
Dr. Nash is a people person, hence listening to his patients is of prime importance to him so he can better understand their concerns and situation and work with them towards long term healthy and beautiful smile.
Outside Dentistry, Dr. Nash is a dedicated husband and father; He enjoys quality family time, true friendships, authentic Mediterranean food, travelling and photography, social soccer and table tennis, reading books and helping with church activities like teaching and choir singing.
Kate Smith | Practice Manager
Kate moved here with her husband and three children from the UK in 2006.
Kate has been in health for just over 17 Years, with variety of administration roles working in maternity, GP Clinics and urgent care facilities.
She enjoys spending time with her family, going on coastal walks, fitness classes, and making jewellery in her spare time.
Carole Belshaw | Dental Nurse
Carole is originally from the UK – emigrated to NZ 33 years ago, she has been in the dental industry for 22 years, 8 of which working along side Peter Rowell making her the longest serving member of staff.
Carole holds a NZDA certificate of dental assisting. She is caring, compassionate, professional and always has a smile for everyone.
Away from the practice, Carole loves spending time with her friends and family.
Melanie Whittingham | Dental Nurse
Mel, her husband and two kids moved from Canada in early 2018. She brings decades of experience and high-level training as a dental assistant.
She loves caring for people and also has several artistic talents and is a professional photographer.
Aileen Young | Reception and Dental Nurse
Aileen came to NZ in 2016 after 48 years as a Registered Nurse in the UK. She came to NZ after retirement to be nearer to family.
She has a daughter here and a son in Sydney. She is new to dentistry and is enjoying the challenge of learning new skills in a professional, friendly environment which continuing a life long passion for people and their welfare.
