Zakiya Omar | Dentist and Director
Zakiya (BDS) has been at Whangaparaoa Dental since 2014, after starting a partnership with Peter Rowell. She previously owned Wellsford Dental Centre for 5 years and worked in Auckland City for 9 years. Zakiya is pleased to welcome previous patients back after the many changes in dentists at Whangaparaoa Dental. She ensures the best dental care in a relaxed environment, is a friendly lady and fully competent in all aspects of dentistry.
Zakiya is married with two girls, one at Otago University and the other at primary school.
Peter Rowell | Dentist and Director
Peter graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1983 and moved to Warkworth for two years prior to opening Whangaparaoa Dental Centre in 1986. He and his wife have lived on the Peninsula for 33 years raising their two childeren here; they are all very proud Coasters.
Peter is a General Dentist practicing most aspects of Dentistry from his new state of the art rooms ably assisted by his lovely caring staff.
Dentistry is a profession that suites him well, he enjoys people and has the ability to make his patients feel comfortable and relaxed.
Whangaparaoa Dental Centre is situated in the Coast Plaza meaning access is easy with ample parking.
Nash Ibrahim | Dentist (Locum by arrangement for extractions only)
Dr. Nash graduated (with Honours) in 2001 and since then has worked overseas and in New Zealand both at hospital and in private dental clinics.
He sees himself as a progressive learner, he has extended his knowledge and advanced both his clinical and communication skills through extensive post graduate continuing educational courses in multiple fields of dentistry here in NZ
Dr. Nash is a current member of the NZ Dental Association,
Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and
Fellow of the International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE)
Dr. Nash is a people person, hence listening to his patients is of prime importance to him so he can better understand their concerns and situation and work with them towards long term healthy and beautiful smile.
Outside Dentistry, Dr. Nash is a dedicated husband and father; He enjoys quality family time, true friendships, authentic Mediterranean food, travelling and photography, social soccer and table tennis, reading books and helping with church activities like teaching and choir singing.
Kate Smith | Practice Manager
Kate moved here with her husband and three children from the UK in 2006.
Kate works Monday through till Thursday midday, and has been in health for many Years, with variety of administration roles working in maternity, GP Clinics and urgent care facilities.
She enjoys spending time with her family, going on coastal walks, and gardening in her spare time.
Marisol Micua | Dental Nurse
Marisol is originally from the Philippines, and emigrated to New Zealand twelve years ago , married and has two children.
She has worked in the Dental and Medical sector in New Zealand, the Philippines and Cyprus for many years.
Marisol aims to provide a relaxed and happy environment at work in which patients feel cared for, comfortable and warmly received.
She also enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling and tramping with friends.
Sharon Schofield | Dental Nurse
Sharon is New Zealand born and lived in Australia for 9 years travelling with her family, she returned to NZ when she was 18, and is married with one son.
Sharon has been a chairside assistant for 33 years. When not at work she enjoys bush walking, visiting the many beaches NZ has to offer, kayaking and swimming. Sharon has a passion for animals and brings a cheerful attitude.
